EDITOR'S NOTE

WELCOME BACK!

December is a season of reflection and light. It is in the quiet winter months that unity, solidarity and fellowship are celebrated as we come together to celebrate a landmark moment in our faith and the coming of the greatest light in the darkest times. We are pleased to share several inspirational readings and special event announcements! We invite you to relax and enjoy this month’s issue of #HYPLife to learn more about them. As always, our goal is to educate, inspire and empower our readers and viewers!

6 Things Productive People Do on Weekends

  • Disconnect. Commit to turning off your screens and devices.
  • Exercise. Whether it’s an intensive workout, a simple walk, or “chaircercise,” a bit of exercise at least on the weekends is good for your overall mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. (If you can manage to exercise at any level 3 or more days a week, even better.)
  •  Meditate & Reflect. Take a moment to think about your positive contributions and accomplishments from the past week and give yourself a pat on the back. Making note of any areas that need improvement and commit to making at least one major improvement in the week ahead.
  • (Re)organize. Take a few minutes moment to review and organize or reorganize your purse, desk and space. It gives a fresh visual boost to kick off the week ahead.
  • Recharge. Take time to rest and care for yourself, especially if you race through a full and hectic week.
  • Socialize. Whether it’s a phone call or an activity, it’s important to stay connected with those you care about.

Mindfulness Tips

  • MAINTAINING THE POSITIVE DURING NEGATIVE TIMES: Staying positive when facing a negative trial is not an easy thing to do, even for those of us who tend to be optimistic about things. Continuing from our previous messages on Mindfulness, having a full understanding of the range of your skills and deficiencies you can carve positive opportunities for learning and growth out of every challenge. Don’t dwell on the negative and talk yourself out of doing something that is important to you just because people around you are negative. Don’t allow your decisions to hinge on the opinions of others. The only person who knows that something is right for you… is you. The only one who can truly determine whether you remain in the darkness or pull through it… is you. Focus on your goal, believe in yourself and move forward. Being confident, honest, diligent and wise in the path you choose helps you to maintain a positive and hopeful attitude that will lead you to success.
  • LEAVING THE NEGATIVE BEHIND:  While it’s important to connect with and understand others, it’s equally important not to become a slave to the negative opinions of others (which may not stem from their genuine interest in our wellbeing). Trust yourself and understand who your true friends and colleagues are. Make the conscious decision to hear others out, but also learn to filter out people who only bring negativity to your life so you don’t end up on a destructive and negative path in work and in life.
  • EFFECTING POSITIVE CHANGE: Be attentive! Seek out positive opportunities and solutions, even in hard times. Support the efforts of others to do the same.
